When Yip9's Hoenn Auxiliary team was defeated by the water-type team of Hoenn Champion Wallace, slight modifications in strategy were needed. To win, Hoenn Auxiliary needed Pokemon that could resist water-types and give them the super effective smack. Grass-types fit the bill, but most of Wallace's Pokemon knew the lovely move Ice Beam. Then Yip9's Absol Kevin Meehleis suggested a Lanturn, for she resists both water and ice and her Spark is just what's needed to send water-types to the nearest Pokemon Center. So Claire became the trump card of Hoenn Auxiliary in their championship match and everyone lived happily ever after.

Claire is a mischievous practical joker with a twinkle in her eye. She has the unfortunate habit of carrying her practical jokes too far, thus trampling on the feelings of other creatures. Her favorite costume is a black cloak and hood, long enough to wrap other creatures, thrust them into a cauldron, which she affectionately terms 'the pot', add various pseudo-magical ingredients and stir. While engaging in her joking alchemy, Claire has borrowed the rhyme, 'Double, double, toil and trouble, fire burn and cauldron bubble. Making mushroom brew, I am.' Claire shares the Water Shield technique of Prisca the Dewgong and Yip9's other Pokemon with fins: a bubble that strangely never pops levitates the Pokemon and allows her to swim in the air as if it were water.
