Can't Someone Get any Sleep Around Here?! (For Breezy and Vio)

The former day was a rather normal one.

A day where the only focus was upon trying to appear coherent enough in school that no one would realize that he was daydreaming. A day that ended like all others, with him settling into bed and fussing with the never comfortable blankets until he passed out.


And now he was in a blank and descriptiveless landscape, watching his own memories literally shatter and fade into nonexistance. His body was already gone, but his soul, an amorphous glowing ball, seemed to still be impact. There was nothing left then, besides that odd ball, the essence of a child that could no longer recall his own name.


Then the nothingness burst all at once and became a lush grassland, but one that remained barren of any sort of water. It was mysterious how there was so much life then, in a usually sun flushed area. One might say it was mystical, to be more precise, as though the earth itself just wanted everything to grow.

And even with the sun blaring in his eyes, the former boy soon dropped and passed out in the grass. It wasn't as cushy or comfortable as it may have appeared, but it worked enough to suit the newly forming Cubone.

A moment later, and an unusually cracked skull was the only difference between this nameless child and the rest of his new species.

Kasei watched the leaves as she walked. She found the light filtering through the thick canopy to be a rather interesting sight. It wasn't long until she ran into one of the pillar like trees. She let out a soft yelp, more out of surprise than pain. She stared the tree down a moment. There would be a day when she could burn it down like the mighty fire type she was. And was there anything mightier than a vulpix, especially one as stunning and brilliant as she was? She made a self satisfied noise as she thought of such a day. She continued on in a rather cocky fashion, her tails swinging around lazily. She imagined all the trees in a glorious blaze, and naturally as some sort of punishment a large root, not quite submerged into the ground, tripped her. Kasei fell to the ground with a soft thud. She growled again, looking around as if somebody would be in this strange place. However, to her horror, she did see somebody. Did they see her trip? She bristled slightly as if preparing to defend herself from any teasing. She blinked as she realized this distant form wasn't even standing. She smiled slyly at her luck. She pranced into the clearing towards this strange figure. She realized it was just a cubone, how very dull. She frowned slightly, why was he dozing off in such a strange place? Not that it wasn't a comfortable place at all. Kasei looked at the sun, she wouldn't mind taking a nap herself. She squirmed slightly. How could she possibly sleep when there was an odd cubone napping here? Her curiosity kept her awake. She prodded the strange cubone, not gentle in the least. "Hey, buddy wake up." she said in her loud voice. She jumped around impatiently, waiting for him to wake.

At first the odd Cubone seemed to respond, with an even stranger assortment of stiff stretching and quiet muttering. He babbled on a small string of exotic words, almost as if he were speaking in a different language. But... That should be impossible. There wasn't anyone or anything who spoke words like that...

Ultimately her call went unheeded as the Cubone merely rolled to his side and clutched to that bone that Cubone were known to carry. However, hiss rolling exposed a gaping hole from the eye socket to the bottom end of the skull. It must have meant he was some sort of ruffian to leave be, or perhaps one that is impressively... Weak.

Kasei bristled as if in anger. She was being ignored? She wouldn't allow such a thing. She examined the odd skull and the break in it. It held mystery. Was it supposed to be broken? She didn't think so. There was a moment of hesitation as she thought about what such a thing meant. Ignoring all good sense she decided she couldn't sweat the details, she just had to wake this mysterious stranger up! She held her paw up to the eye socket wondering if she could poke him in the eye. No, not quite large enough. Kasei paced around the cubone in an annoyed manner, her tails whipping back and forth. Finally she tried again. "Come on numb skull get up!" she said before chuckling at her own pun. She climbed atop the pokemon with fair ease. She set to jumping as if such an activity were completely normal. However she grew bored of this and soon just sat next to him. She groaned lightly. Her curiosity was strong, but this bum was boring. She sighed deciding she should give it one last go. She sat near him before swiftly bending down and biting his leg. She wondered if such an action would really be the best way to wake someone up. If he did wake up. This gibberish speaking cubone could probably sleep through anything.

To add to the mystery of this strange Cubone, he indeed woke up with a loud yelp. However...

Instead of reaching for his diverse bone club, as would be normal, the Cubone kicked out and scrambled away, without even reaching to grab his club. This other pokémon only glared at the Vulpix and let out a new string of gobbledygook that sounded rather voilent.

The Cubone stood to his feet and stomped around rather angrily, though he wasn't truly advancing towards her.

He was far more adorable than menacing, though he likely wouldn't seem that way if she understood his screeching.

Kasei sat down as she watched the silly creature stomp around. She tilted her head, ears twitching slightly, trying to understand the odd words. Any fear or worry she felt vanished at that point. She giggled slightly before saying "Your quite silly for a cubone. I didn't bite you that hard." she said, emphasizing the word 'that'.
Kasei stood, her tails drooping slightly as though she didn't know how to hold them up yet. She walked over to his club and picked it up in her jaws before bringing it over to the strange cubone. "You forgot this." she mumbled through the bone. She thought he must be quite ditsy to forget his precious bone club. Maybe he was the scared type? Or a foreigner? Kasei wondered if he could understand her. She watched him, curiosity and amusement evident in her almond eyes.

(I ended up coming around here anyways. Oops.

It may have been quite sensible to Kasei that this abnormal Cubone would rip his club away from her grip, but it very slightly confused the Cubone himself. It just felt... Wrong to be without his club, even though he had left it behind only moments before. It was as if he only just realized that a peice of himself had been missing, and hurried to stuff it back in. Or well, not really. But in his paw, where it should be. Where it always should be. ALWAYS.

The odd creature soon desisted in his obtuse rant, and settled for pointing his boneclub almost intimidatingly straight at her, before settling into a calmer position with his arms crossed, and his foot tapping the ground.

Effective communication was likely to be a bit hard...

Kasei put a paw up to her jaw. "Ouch." she complained. She watched him curiously as she rubbed her jaw. Finally she sat down again. "Do you... not speak my language?" she wondered aloud. For once the mystery of it all seemed to calm her slightly. "Or maybe your deaf, or mute?" she asked, beginning to talk slowly as if this would help. Kasei decided that she needed to figure out what the issue was. Yet she was terrible at charades. She finally settled on poking her ear in a questioning manner. She was frustrated that she could do nothing else. This was to be quite difficult if he really had no means of communication. How would she get answers then?

It seemed to work well enough... The Cubone shut his yap tightly after all. It was highly probably that he wasn't as effective at nonverbal communication, even in comparison to her. Especially seeing as Cubone were highly antisocial outside of their own species. His eyes were merely narrowed as he continued to glare at her. That is... Until he glanced down to his bone, and more importantly, to it's pointed tip. Without warning he began to scramble through the grass, as he had a stray thought that writing would be a better way for the both of them to communicate.

He stood straight back up as soon as he realized just how stupid this idea was.

They weren't using the same words were they. How could that possibly work.

Kasei watched him for a moment. He was an amusing curiosity to her. Yet, he couldn't speak properly. The solution to this problem seemed rather non-existent to Kasei. Finally she decided it would be best to see if anyone in a nearby town knew where the strange cubone had come from. She decided if he was speaking such gibberish, he must be from somewhere else, and that meant someone had to know where such a place was. Whether the cubone was lost or not, she didn't know. She didn't consider such a logical thought though. Instead she walked away from him a little, glancing back and waving a tail as if to summon him. She hoped such a simple message would register in the silly creature's mind.
